  2. Sam and Dave, were simply one of the greatest musical pairings of the 60's, they served up incredible live shows and many, many brilliant songs. For starters try, 'Blues Brother, Soul Sister', 'Hold on I'm Coming', 'Soul Man' as starting points, but you'll find yourself sticking the repeat button down for the album as the sweet soul gets under /5().

  3. In fact, if you were beginning an R&B collection, this outstanding CD would be an excellent place to start. You'll find barnburners like Soul Man and I Thank You, among many others, but you may be surprised how these guys work a ballad. The Best Of Sam AND Dave delivers the goods; and so much more/5().

  5. Arguably the best track, the phenomenal "I Thank You" closes the compilation on a high note. Although the duo did switch officially to Atlantic by the early '70s, this compilation stops at the prime Stax material. The Best of Sam & Dave had a brief shelf life and was supplanted by more extensive overviews.8/

  7. Sam & Dave were renowned for their exciting stage performance. In the late 's Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi would be very much inspired by that stage performance when they did their The Blues Brothers act. Sam & Dave disbanded in , but reunited shortly .

  8. The year started well, with the Atlantic release of The Best of Sam & Dave LP in January. It contained all of their Stax A sides except "A Place Nobody Can Find" and several B-sides, and peaked at #24 on the R&B LP charts and #89 on the Billboard LP charts.
